Communities Owaka Valley , Owaka

The Owaka River is a small flow in the region Otago on the South Island of New Zealand . It rises about 3 km south of Purekireki , flows through the settlement Owaka Valley and flows in the north past the largest place of the Catlins , Owaka . It flows into the Catlins River about 25 km southwest of the source west of Pounawea , just before it flows into the sea.

The Clinton-Owaka-Road follows the valley of the river and connects Owaka with Purekireki, then continues on to State Highway 93 .
