Turnkreis (Thuringia)
The Turnkreis Thuringia was a regionally structured form of organization of the Thuringian gymnastics community in Turngauen .
In 1914 it comprised a total of 17 Turngaue, the largest of which was the Osterländische Gau with over 11,000 club members. Circular gymnastics festivals took place every 3 to 5 years from 1879. At the German gymnastics festivals the Thuringians, who formed one of the larger German gymnastics circles, were always represented in large numbers.
