The Turtle River is a tributary of the Red River of the North in the northeast of the US state North Dakota . For almost its entire length it flows in Grand Forks County . Across the Red River, Lake Winnipeg and the Nelson River , it is part of the Hudson Bay catchment area .

Run

The Turtle River rises in two arms, North Branch with a headwaters in the east of Nelson County and South Branch . The two arms converge at the town of Larimore . The river meanders mainly in an easterly direction through the Turtle River State Park and past Grand Forks Air Force Base . On the last stretch of its course, it turns north and flows through the city of Manvel before flowing into the Red River of the North just above Oslo , Minnesota .
