Blues fans Tutwiler is known as the place where the blues began. It was here that WC Handy heard for the first time in 1903 a man play a blues on the slide guitar, to which he sang Goin 'where the southern cross the dog - the strangest music he had ever heard, according to Handy. The rest is blues history.
