Twickenham Bridge
The Twickenham Bridge is a road bridge over the River Thames in London . It connects the district of Richmond on the northeast side with the district of St Margaret's on the southwest side, both in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames . It is made of reinforced concrete with bronze balustrades and lamps .
The bridge forms part of the main A316 (also called Chertsey Road) which connects central London with the M3 motorway at Sunbury-on-Thames . The center of Twickenham, after which the bridge is named, is about three kilometers to the south-west. The first plans to build the bridge existed as early as 1909, but it was not opened until July 3, 1933 by the Prince of Wales , who later became King Edward VIII.
