The Richmond Railway Bridge is a railway bridge over the River Thames in London . It is located on the suburban line from Waterloo via Clapham Junction to Reading , between the stations Richmond in the northeast and St. Margaret's in the southwest, both in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames .

The cast iron bridge designed by Joseph Locke was opened on August 22, 1848 by the London and South Western Railway . After a similar structure collapsed in Norbury in 1891 , there were growing fears that the same could happen in Richmond. Finally, from 1906, a new steel bridge was built , which was opened in 1908. Today trains from the South West Trains operate here .
