Twixlum Church
The Evangelical Reformed Twixlum Church in the East Frisian town of Emden is the successor to a church from the second half of the 14th century, built around 1500.
history
The oldest surviving part of the Twixlum Church is the tower, whose construction dates back to the second half of the 14th century based on the stone format and construction method. To the east was the nave of the previous building, the floor of which was about one meter below today's level. This church building was torn down around 1500 and today's single-nave Gothic building was erected on its foundation walls, and a choir was added to the east.
During the Second World War , the church was badly damaged in an air raid. The subsequent repair work dragged on for years. In 1953 it was put back into use.
Furnishing
The pulpit, created in 1788, as well as the communion table dated to 1700, were extensively restored in the 1990s. Other items of equipment include a jug from 1815. It was donated by the heirs of the court judge Kampe Wyards Teelmann and his wife Janken Sybens Sappen.
The organ was built in 1965 by the Swiss organ builder Kuhn and repaired by Bartelt Immer in 1995 .
