Two Summit Iceland (basically translated from English Two Summit Island ) is an island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is dominated by two prominent mountain peaks and is located in the eastern entrance to Fildes Strait .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations carried out surveys in 1935 and named them Two Hummock Island (English for two ice hill island ). However, in order to avoid confusion with Two Hummock Island in the Antarctic Palmer Archipelago , the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee decided in 1954 to rename it descriptively.
