Ty Templeton (born May 9, 1962 ) is a Canadian comic book author and illustrator .

Life and work

Templeton, the son of Canadian entertainer Charles Templeton and brother of Internet pioneer Brad Templeton, began working as a full-time comic book author in the early 1990s. He received his first attention for the Vortex Comics series Stig's Inferno , a parody of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy . Since then he has mainly worked for the two leading US comic publishers DC Comics and Marvel Comics , as well as for Bongo Comics .

While he wrote and illustrated numerous stories for Bongo Comics of the comic adaptations of the cartoon series The Simpsons , which is also popular in Germany , he designed various booklets for DC for the comic series The Batman Adventures, which is based on the cartoon series Batman: The Animated Series by Paul Dini . He also worked for DC on a special on satirical superhero Plastic Man (1998) and created a graphic novel, Big Time , which was published on DC's adult reader label Vertigo .

More recently, Templeton wrote the series Planet of the Apes published by the publisher Mr. Comics , which he founded and runs .
