Tychius parallelus is a beetle from the family of the weevils (Curculionidae).
description
The beetles are 3–3.8 mm long (measured from the front edge of the eyes to the rear end of the wing covers ). The antennae and legs are reddish in color, the latter covered with brownish and gray scales. The head, pronotum and wing cover are covered with brownish scales. The pronotum has a white central band and a white longitudinal band on each side. The wing cover seam and the 5th to 7th space between the wings are usually covered with white scales.

distribution
The beetle species is widespread in Europe. They occur in the north as far as England, Denmark, southern Sweden and the Baltic States. In the south, the occurrence extends over the Iberian Peninsula and Italy to North Africa and in the east to the eastern Palearctic .
Way of life
The beetle larvae develop in the pods of the legumes of their host plants. These include various cytisus - and gorse TYPES like Scotch broom ( Cytisus scoparius ) and Austria-Zwerggeißklee ( Chamaecytisus austriacus ) and Ordinary wing broom ( Genista sagittal ) and Dyer's broom ( Genista tinctoria ). This can lead to deformation of the pods. The pupation takes place in the ground. The adult beetles appear in early spring. They are usually seen from early March to late May.
