TE Connectivity , a former division of Tyco International Ltd. , which was known under the name Tyco Electronics, is an international Swiss group with US roots and headquarters in Schaffhausen as well as important administrative centers in Berwyn in the state of Pennsylvania .
The core activities of the group are the areas of electronic connectors, network technology, underwater telecommunication systems and wireless systems. The group develops, manufactures and markets products for customers in the automotive, aerospace, defense, telecommunications, computer and consumer electronics sectors.
The company employs around 83,000 people and had 2014 sales of $ 13.912 billion. The shares of TE Connectivity Ltd. are listed on the Exchange New York Stock listed and the stock index S & P 500 represented.

On June 29, 2008, Tyco Electronics, together with Covidien , became an independent company that was traded on the stock exchanges independently of the parent company. As an independent company, Tyco Electronics consists of four divisions (sales 2008)

- Undersea Telecommunications ($ 1.2 billion)
- Wireless Systems ($ 463 million)
The company employs staff in 50 countries. Main sales regions (as of 2008) are: EMEA (37%), America (36%), Asia-Pacific (27%)
In the first quarter of 2009, the Wireless Systems division was sold to Harris Corporation for $ 675 million.
history
In April 1999, Tyco Electronics acquired AMP Incorporated. At the same time, Jürgen W. Gromer became chairman of Tyco Electronics, having served as AMP's senior vice president of global sales and service since 1998. Gromer remained President of the Electronics division at Tyco International until the end of 2007. From 2006 to 2017, Tom Lynch was CEO of Tyco Electronics. Terrence R. Curtin has been CEO of TE Connectivity since 2017.
On December 18, 2001, the merger of Tyco International with TyCom Ltd. which became Submarine Telecommunications under the control of Tyco Electronics.
As a result of a decline in business, the electronics division posted a loss of over $ 2 billion in the first quarter of 2002 related to excess capacity in the international fiber optic cable market, which affected the expanding submarine cable network Tyco Global Network (TGN). TGN was then sold in November 2004. In fiscal 2002, Tyco Electronics made a profit of $ 11 billion.
In 2003 electronics profit decreased slightly but remained above $ 10 billion. In 2004, profits rose to approximately $ 12 billion, roughly one third of Tyco International's total profits.
In 2006 Thomas J. Lynch took over the newly created position of CEO of the Tyco Electronics division, which he will continue to manage in 2007 after being spun off from the parent company Tyco International. Before joining Tyco, he was Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Consumer Cellular Business Unit at Motorola until 2002 .
At the beginning of 2009, the group decided to relocate its headquarters from the Bermuda Islands to Switzerland. The relocation to Schaffhausen took place on June 25, 2009. This also involved the transformation of Tyco Electronics Ltd. into a stock corporation under Swiss law . However, TE Connectivity is represented worldwide with various subsidiaries and the headquarters in Schaffhausen only relate to accounting tasks.
In July 2010, Tyco Electronics and ADC Telecommunications announced the intended acquisition of ADC by Tyco Electronics. In April 2011, Tyco Electronics was finally renamed TE Connectivity. In autumn 2013, TE Connectivity informed its customers about the planned relocation of its Berlin production (formerly ADC Krone) to Brno in spring 2014 .
