Tyll Kroha

As a German numismatist, Tyll Kroha (* August 12, 1929 ; † April 2, 2015 ) was also a book author, auctioneer and, together with Günther Brockmann, founder and, from 1968 to 2014, head of the Kölner Münzkabinett , a coin dealer in Cologne .

His "Large Lexicon of Numismatics", first published in 1977, has been an important reference work for decades.

Kroha has built up the numismatic collection of the Kreissparkasse Köln for over 30 years since 1954 and directed the famous exhibition Das Fenster here . From 1977 to 1986 he was the second chairman of the Association of German Coin Dealers (VDDM) . Because of his special merits, the German Numismatic Society awarded him the Eligius Prize in 2002 .
