Tymfi ( Greek Δημοτική Ενότητα Τύμφης Dimotiki Enotita Tymfis ) is one of five parishes in the municipality of Zagori in the Greek region of Epirus . In the course of the administrative reform in 2010 it emerged from the municipality of Tymfi and is divided into twelve local communities. It is named after the Tymfi mountain range in the northern Pindos Mountains.

With 428,296 square kilometers, the largest area of ​​the municipality is located in the north and the center of the municipality. In the east is the municipality of Vovousa , Anatoliki Zafori in the southeast, Kendriko Zagori in the southwest and Papingo in the northwest. The municipality of Konitsa borders in the north. With an average of 1036 m above sea level , the municipality is one of the highest in Greece.

history

The municipality Tymfi ( Dimos Tymfiss Δήμος Τύμφης ) was from 1997 to 2010 one of five municipalities in the Greek prefecture of Ioannina with the administrative seat in Tsepelovo . This community was created as a result of the community reform in 1997 from the merger of twelve rural communities. On January 1, 2011, Tymfi was merged with Vovousa , Anatoliko Zagori , Kendriko Zagori and Papingo to form the municipality of Zagori .
