Tyson R. Roberts

Tyson Royal Roberts is an American ichthyologist .

Tyson Roberts graduated from Stanford University in California with a BA in 1961 and a Ph.D. 1968. In his doctoral thesis, he examined the osteology and phylogenetics of tetrasal fish. He is a research fellow at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama and a member of the Conservation Genetics and Ecology Laboratory at Mahidol University in Thailand . In 1999 he received a Guggenheim grant for research in the field of organismic biology and ecology.

His fields of work are the systematics, ecology and development of tropical freshwater fish from Africa, Asia and South America as well as the oceanic belt fish .
