Užusaliai is a village with 584 inhabitants in the Jonava district in Lithuania , on the Kaunas - Jonava railway , 25 km northeast of Kaunas, 19 km from Jonava, 5 km from Išorai . It is the center of the Užusaliai administrative district and the sub-administrative district. There is a secondary school , library, post office (LT-55044), cultural center, church , cemetery, parish.
geography
The Šešuva and its tributary the Pravarta flows through the village . Around Užusaliai there are many forests and a moor, as well as the Užusaliai reservoir .
history
It was mentioned in a document in 1744. During the uprising in 1863 the houses burned and the residents were deported and driven out. Instead, the Russians settled here and the village was renamed Aleksandrovskaja sloboda , in honor of Alexander Yaroslavich Newski (1220–1263). In 1866 the church with a few towers was built here and the school was established. Užusaliai became a masculine church village.
In 1923 there were 70 houses and 488 residents. In 1941, German soldiers killed 48 people. In the Soviet era the center of the kolkhoz "New Life" was founded. It later became the central settlement of the Kalnėnai sovkhoz , and a Soviet museum was established here.
In 2012 the coat of arms was confirmed by the Lithuanian President .
