The subway station Märkische Straße of the Dortmund Stadtbahn is located in the south of Dortmund . Two light rail lines operate here: the U41 light rail line between the Brambauer and Hörde district of Lüner and the U47 light rail line between Westerfilde and Aplerbeck . There is also an option to change to bus 453 in the direction of the city center or Schüren. 24 trains per hour stop at Märkische Strasse. The subway station opened on September 2, 1986.

The station complex has a total of three platforms: two central platforms in the north for the lines towards the city center and a side platform in the south towards Hörde and Aplerbeck. Immediately after the exit in the direction of the city center there is a siding for a maximum of two cars of the Stadtbahn car B used in Dortmund . After the exit towards the east, the two lines branch off. The next stop in the direction of the city center is Markgrafenstraße, in the direction of Hörde the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße and in the direction of Aplerbeck after the ramp that leads between the green strip of the Ruhrschnellweg, the Kohlgartenstraße stop. The underground station has three entrances via escalators and stairs in the west, but no elevator system . An installation planned as part of major handicapped-accessible retrofits has not yet taken place in 2014 due to planning difficulties.
