The metro station Maidan Nezalezhnosti ( Ukrainian Майдан Незалежності (станція метро) Maidan Nezalezhnosti (stanzija metro) ) is an underground station of the Metro Kiev on Maidan Nezalezhnosti , the central square of the Ukrainian capital Kiev .
Data
The underground station consists of a central hall with colonnades and a platform 102 m long and 16 m wide. It is open daily 5:40 to 00:14 and to rush hour approached at 90-second intervals from the trains.
The station is 102 m below the ground on subway line 2 (Kureniwsko - Tscherwonoarmijska) between the subway stations Postplatz ( Poschtowa ploschtscha ) and Lev-Tolstoy-Platz ( Ploschtscha Lwa Tolstoho ). It has a daily passenger traffic of 39,600 (2011) people.
history
The station was opened on December 17, 1976 as the underground station "Kalininplatz", shortly afterwards, with the renaming of the square, the underground station "Platz der Oktoberrevolution" (October Revolution Square). Since 1991 it has had its current name. From February 18 to 24, 2014, the subway station was closed due to the Euromaidan unrest .
