UB 85 was a German class UB III submarine . The boat entered service on November 24, 1917. On April 30, 1918, the boat was shot at and sunk in the Irish Sea by the HMS Coreopsis . The 34-man crew were rescued.
The wreck may have been found in 2016 during offshore work to lay a submarine cable.
