UCI track team

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

UCI Track Teams (en., Ger .: UCI track teams) are cycling teams that take part in track cycling competitions.

Drivers

A UCI Track Team can include male and female cyclists at the same time , but they take part in the respective competitions separately.

The drivers of the UCI Track Teams are contractually bound to the teams, but not necessarily professional athletes , as there is no minimum income set by the UCI. However, contractual remuneration - also on a professional level - may be agreed. A mandatory model contract provides for certain minimum conditions to protect drivers, which may not be changed to their disadvantage.

The maximum number of riders per UCI Track Team is ten, there is no minimum number.

Licensing

A UCI Track Team must be registered with the Union Cycliste Internationale through a national cycling association; in particular, the main sponsors, legal representatives and the design of the team clothing must be communicated, as well as the rider contracts.

meaning

Registration as a UCI Track Team entitles you to participate in the Track Cycling World Cups until the 2019/20 season . Participation in the successor series UCI Track Cycling Nations' Cup is no longer planned. These teams were also included in a team world ranking. Since the importance of team tactics - except in the real team competitions like e.g. B. team pursuit - but not comparable to road cycling, the perception of these teams is less than the perception of road cycling teams, such as B. the UCI ProTeams .

As of July 8, 2011, 32 track teams were registered with the UCI, including the Erdgas.2012 team from Germany , the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania track cycling team and the Brandenburg track team, as well as the Proter Focus Track Team from Switzerland . The most important teams outside the German-speaking area included RusVelo , Jayco-AIS and Sky Track Cycling .

On May 15, 2012, the UCI announced 31 track teams for the coming season. Although the number of teams had decreased, 20 nations were represented instead of the previous 16.
