University of Nevada, Las Vegas
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (also known as UNLV ) is a state university in Paradise , a suburb of Las Vegas in the US state of Nevada . With 28,600 students (fall 2015) it is the largest university in Nevada. The university has a strong reputation in engineering , English , hotel management and business informatics .
history
In 1957 the Las Vegas college opened as the southern location of the University of Nevada . In 1965 the university was renamed Nevada Southern University . Since 1968 it has been an institution of the same rank as the University of Nevada, Reno and in 1969 it received its current name.
