Joel Vincent Anthony (born August 9, 1982 in Montreal ) is a Canadian basketball player .
Joel Anthony first played basketball at proficiency level at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas , where he played for the university team Rebels in the Mountain West Conference (MWC) of the NCAA from 2004 with a year injury hiatus until 2007. Although not selected in the 2007 NBA Draft , he made it into the Miami Heat's seasonal roster in the summer of 2007 . On the position of the center he won the 2012 and 2013 championship with the Heat. In January 2014, Anthony was transferred from the Heat to the Boston Celtics before moving to the Detroit Pistons for the 2014/15 season. In 2017 he moved to the San Antonio Spurs , for which he only completed one season. For the 2018/19 season he switched to the reigning Argentine champions San Lorenzo .
