uWink Inc. was an OTC bulletin board listed company in the digital entertainment business based in Los Angeles , California. The company was founded in 2000 by Nolan Bushnell , co-founder and former chairman of the computer game pioneer Atari and the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant chain .

Initially, the company developed interactive entertainment software for restaurants, bars and mobile devices, but had little success with it. In 2006 the business model was revised and the first restaurant was founded in Woodland Hills , a district of Los Angeles. A second branch was founded in June 2008 in Hollywood , also in Los Angeles. In the same year a third branch was opened in Mountain View near San Francisco , but closed again in April 2009. The other two branches also had to close in 2010.

In uWink restaurants, users could place orders using a touch screen . These were then forwarded to the kitchen without the customers having to be served by staff. More than 70 computer games could be played on this screen , including multiplayer games.
