Christian Antz

Christian Antz (* 1961 ) is a German art historian and cultural manager . Since 1998 he has been head of department in the Ministry of Economics and Labor of the State of Saxony-Anhalt in Magdeburg and since 2011 he has been an honorary professor at the West Coast University of Applied Sciences in Heide.

Life

The Saarlander Antz studied art history, German, philosophy and political science from 1982 to 1988. With a doctoral scholarship from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation , he completed his dissertation on southern German baroque architecture at the University of Trier in 1992 . From 1992 to 1998 he was an advisor in the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Economics for cultural tourism (1992–94), public relations and marketing (1994–95) and politics for regions (1995–98).

Since 1996 he has been a lecturer at the Institute for Art History at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Halle / Saale, at the Institute for Management and Tourism (IMT) at the West Coast University of Applied Sciences in Heide and in the social work, media, culture department of the university Merseburg noticed. Since 1998 Antz has been head of department in the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Economics, 1998–2002 for tourism policy, 2002–03 for tourism, 2003–06 for tourism and marketing, 2006–12 for handicrafts, liberal professions, trade, services and creative industries, 2012–2014 for Creative, information and media industries, 2014-15 creative industries, trade, services, information industry and 2015-17 for study reform, new media, academic further education. Since 2017 he has acted as a consultant for the application of the state capital Magdeburg as European Capital of Culture in 2025.

For Saxony-Anhalt, in particular, 1992–94 / 1998–2006 he carried out the state tourism projects “ Romanesque Road - Journey into the Middle Ages”, the first tourist route in East Germany, “Blue Ribbon - Water Tourism in Saxony-Anhalt”, the first rivers and lakes in a state and developed a water tourism brand that integrates all leisure activities and “Garden Dreams - Historic Parks in Saxony-Anhalt”, the first state-wide gardening initiative in Germany. In addition to his focus on cultural tourism, Antz has also been working with the Christian churches in Germany since 2000 on the future topic of spiritual tourism and, since 2009, on the growth market of slow tourism.

Since 1993 he is a founding member of the Wine Brotherhood Saale-Unstrut, 1997-2001 founding board member of the Art Association crossing Magdeburg and 2005-12 founding and board member of the St. James Society Saxony-Anhalt. Antz is also involved in the Monument Council of the State of Saxony-Anhalt from 1997-2005, 1998-2006 on the Advisory Board of the German National Tourist Board (DZT), 2001-05 on the jury of the Science Prize of the Harz University of Applied Sciences and TUI, since 2003 in of the German Society for Tourism Science (DGT), 2007-12 as supervisory board of the Saxony-Anhaltische Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft (SALEG), 2007-12 as chairman of the "Garden Network Germany - Federal Association of Regional Gardening Initiatives", 2009-16 in the Catholic Working Group for Leisure and Tourism of the Germans Bishops Conference (KAFT), since 2010 in the Board of Trustees Book Prize of the German Horticultural Society (DGG), since 2012 in the Scientific Advisory Board of the Center for Medieval Exhibitions (ZMA) and since 2017 in the Chamber for Church and Tourism of the Evangelical Church of Central Germany (EKM). Since 2011 he has held the world's first professorship for slow tourism in the economics department of the West Coast University of Applied Sciences in Heide as an honorary professor .
