Udo Hackländer (born August 27, 1955 ; † October 30, 2013 in Wuppertal ) was a German police director , regulatory officer, mayor and district chairman of the CDU in Wuppertal.

Life

From October 1999 to June 2000, Udo Hackländer was a mandate holder in the Wuppertal City Council. From 1999 to 2003 he held the office of district chairman of the CDU in Wuppertal. In 2000, the former police director was elected as the head of the regulatory affairs department, but caused a sensation nationwide when he drove drunk in 2003 and lost his driver's license.

In 2010 Hackländer was one of 115 suspects in a corruption case at the Wuppertal Immigration Office, in which he was involved in obtaining residence permits for Chinese citizens. The public prosecutor's office investigated suspicion of complicity in the illegal residence of foreigners.

In a decision of June 20, 2018 by the Regional Court of Bochum , a contract was declared immoral, which was concluded in 2004 on the initiative of Hackländer between the city of Wuppertal and ASS Athletic Sport Sponsoring GmbH (ASS). The damage to the city amounted to around € 0.8 million. The practice of the city paying ASS bills without consideration was only ended and reported in 2016 by the Legal Secretary Panagiotis Paschalis .

In 2008 Hackländer resigned from the CDU and then retired early. In the same year, after various failed real estate deals, he filed for personal bankruptcy.

At the beginning of August 2013, Hackländer announced that he would become involved in the recently founded non-profit "Organization for Humanitarian Support and Security Concepts". He died in October 2013.
