Ugo Riccarelli

Ugo Riccarelli (born December 3, 1954 in Cirié , † July 21, 2013 in Rome ) was an Italian writer .

Life

Riccarelli studied philosophy in Turin and then worked in the Biblioteca Palazzo Pretorio and as an assistant director and journalist in Pisa . In 1995 his first work Le scarpe appese al cuore was published , and Riccarelli also wrote poetry. In 2004 he won the prestigious Italian literary prize Premio Strega for his work Il dolore perfetto . In Germany he became known through his Bruno Schulz novel Un uomo che forse si chiamava Schulz (1998) (Eng. A man who might be called Schulz , 1999). In 2004, his volume of short stories, Fausto Coppis Engel, was published in German, in 2006 the complete pain (translation of Il dolore perfetto ) and in 2009 Der Zauberer ( Un mare di nulla ). In 2013 L'amore graffia il mondo was awarded the Premio Campiello .

Riccarelli was married, the father of a daughter and the stepfather of two other children from his wife's first marriage. Riccarelli lived in Rome.
