Ugress is an electrical project from Bergen (Norway) . The driving force behind the project is Gisle Martens Meyer .

Ugress released five albums. The first, Resound (2002), was a huge hit and climbed to number two on the official Norwegian charts. The second album Cinematronics was released two years later, but did not win the popularity of the previous one. Unicorn , the third album, was released on January 28, 2008. On June 15, 2009 the fourth studio album Reminiscience followed . In July 2010 the compilation "Collectronics" was released, which combines previously published EP and single numbers in addition to a previously unreleased song ("Nightswimming"). However, the album is only available as a download.

Ugress is the Norwegian word for weed .

The music of Ugress can be compared to that of artists like Parov Stelar , Crystal Method , Chemical Brothers or the Propellerheads . Often similarities with Röyksopp are assumed, but the music of Ugress is described as a "dirtier" style. Ugress is also known to use a variety of short audio sequences from various artists and television programs in their titles. It is often wrongly assumed that Ugress is Gisle Martens Meyer's only project. In fact, this is only one of currently five projects that have been released under the Uncanny Records label .
