Uitgeverij Vrijdag (German: Verlag Freitag ) is an independent literary publisher from Antwerp .
history
Uitgeverij Vrijdag was founded in June 2008 by Rudy Vanschoonbeek. The publisher mainly publishes works by Flemish authors and focuses on literature and quality non-fiction books. The play Vrijdag by the Flemish writer Hugo Claus was the inspiration for the publisher's name. Uitgeverij Vrijdag also publishes the literary-cultural magazine DW B (Dietsche Warande & Belfort).
In 2011 Rudy Vanschoonbeek founded the company "Elkedag Boeken" (German: Jedentag Bücher ), in which Uitgeverij Vrijdag works with around twenty other publishers (including Wereldbibliotheek, De Harmonie and Podium) for the sale and promotion of their publications. Distribution was centralized in the Centraal Boekhuis.
