Ukrainian Studies

Under Ukrainian Studies (.. Ukr українознавство, scientific translit ukrajinoznavstvo.) Is the scientific study of the Ukrainian language and Ukrainian literature understood (also: Ukrainian Philology called), and, more broadly, the modern Areal- and Cultural Studies , dedicated to the Ukrainian Nation , ethnogenesis , history , regional studies and economy and the Ukrainians living in the diaspora . One of the founders of Ukrainian studies was Pavlo Schytezkyj .

In German-speaking countries there is a Ukrainian language course, for example at the University of Greifswald and the University of Vienna . Ukrainian Studies can be studied at the University of Münster as part of the bachelor's degree in Regional Studies in East Central Europe.

Every summer, an international Ukrainian conference, the Greifswalder Ukrainicum, takes place at the Alfried Krupp Science College in Greifswald. Since the winter semester 2009/10 there has also been a two-semester additional training there, which is also called Ukrainicum.
