Ulaga (Jiayin)

Ulaga ( Chinese  乌拉嘎镇 , Pinyin Wūlāgá Zhen ) is a large village of the district Jiayin of the prefecture-level city Yichun in northeast China province of Heilongjiang . Ulaga is located in the south of the district and borders there on the Luobei district of the city of Hegang .

history

The large community takes its name from the Ulaga River (乌拉嘎 河). In Oroqenic , Ulaga means "upper river". In 1939, under Japanese occupation , the exploitation of rich gold deposits began here. After the defeat of Japan in World War II, the "Office Goldmine Ulaga Valley" (乌拉嘎 沟 金矿 局) was founded in 1946 and merged with the county government in 1947. In 1956, the "Ulaga Municipality" was finally founded, which together with the gold mine was converted into the " People's Commune Golden Star" (金星 人民公社) in autumn 1958 . This changed its name in April 1959 to "People's Commune Ulaga". In 1962 the gold mine and civil administration were separated from each other again, and in February 1984 the "Großgemeinde Ulaga" was founded.

Ulaga is located on the northern slope of the Little Hinggan Mountains . The large community has an area of ​​1305 km² and in 1992 exceeded the population of 10,000. Ulaga is one of the traditional settlement areas of the Oroqen people . In addition to these, Manchu , Koreans , Hui and the majority (approx. 96%) Han Chinese live in the large community .

Administrative structure

At the village level, Ulaga is made up of two communities and four villages. These are:

  • Resident Community Tuanjie (团结社区), the seat of the municipal government;
  • Resident Community Jinxing (金星社区);
  • Jinfeng Village (金丰 村);
  • Jinshui Village (金水 村);
  • Lizhi village (立志 村);
  • Shengli village of the Oroqen (胜利 鄂伦春 族 村).
