Jens-Ulrich "Uli" Naechster (born March 26, 1983 in Hamm , Westphalia ) is a German basketball coach . He is the sports director of the second division club Paderborn Baskets .

career

Next began his coaching career at SSV Hamm and joined the Paderborn Baskets in 2009 . There he headed the third men's team, then the second men's team and the male U18 team as a coach. In parallel to this, he completed a degree in economics at Bielefeld University , which he graduated in 2010. In addition to his other activities in Paderborn, between 2012 and 2014 he acted as assistant coach for the club's first men's team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA .

In April 2014, Naechster was promoted to head coach of Paderborn's ProA team. After Dirk Happes retired , he also took over his duties as sports director from mid-July 2015. In March 2016, Naechster's contract as head coach and sports director was extended to 2019. At the end of March 2019, he announced that after the end of the 2018/19 season he would change from the coaching office to the management of the main club Paderborn Baskets 91 eV, but remain in the post of sports director of the Paderborn professional team.
