Uljana Olschanski ( Polish : Julianna Holszańska , Lithuanian Julijona Alšėniškė or Julijona Vytautienė ) (* before 1418, † after October 1430), was the second wife of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas .

Her first husband was Ivan von Karachev . The German chronicler Johann von Posilge and the Polish historian Jan Długosz claim that Ivan was murdered so that the widowed Uljana could then marry Vytautas. She was probably Orthodox and converted to Catholicism to marry Vytautas.

After the death of his wife Anna on July 31, 1418, Vytautas wished to marry Uljana, the daughter of Ivan Olschanski , one of his closest allies. However, Anna was the sister of Agripina, the wife of Ivan and the mother of Ulyana. That made Vytautas Ulyana's uncle by marriage. Piotr Krakowczyk , the Bishop of Vilnius , refused to perform the ceremony and insisted that the Pope's consent must first be obtained. Finally, the pair of was John I (Opole) , the Bishop of Wloclawek , before Christmas married in 1418 and Vytautas gained by Pope Martin V later a matrimoniale dispensation .
