Uloborus plumipes is an old-world species from the genus of feather-foot spiders ( Uloborus ) within the family of curling-wheel web spiders (Uloboridae), whichoccursin Argentina as a neozoon . It was first described in 1846 by the French entomologist and arachnologist Hippolyte Lucas .

features

Uloborus plumipes has a densely haired prosoma without pronounced longitudinal stripes. The opisthosoma has two distinct humps on the sides in the front part, between which there are two white spots. The opisthosoma is densely hairy with a darker central line. The legs of Uloborus plumipes are hairy medium brown with white-bluish ringlets. The tibia of the female's first pair of legs has showy black feathery hair.

Habitat and behavior

The species is widespread in warm climates and introduced in greenhouses in Central and Northern Europe . It was a parthenogenetic accepted (unisexual) reproduction of females in greenhouses. This is probably only due to the fact that the males are found much less often.
