The Ulrich GmbH & Co. KG (trademark "ulrich medical" since 2005) is a German medical technology company headquartered in Ulm , Baden-Wurttemberg. Ulrich medical was the first company in the world to develop a contrast medium injector with tandem technology. This technology enables the electronic control and use of two different contrast media , which contributes to increased efficiency and convenience.

history

The company was founded in Ulm in 1912 by Heinrich C. Ulrich. Surgical instruments were initially developed, produced and sold .

The company gained importance in the middle of the 20th century primarily through its role as an innovation leader in the history of German medical technology: In 1934, the instrument maker Ulrich built a gastrointestinal suturing device with interchangeable clip inserts based on an idea by surgeon Neuffer. "The Ulrich'sche apparatus was created with one or two reserve chambers (Friedrich 1934)". In 1952 Ulrich built the first artificial finger joint and in 1958 the first German heart-lung machine .

Since 1978, the company produces spinal - implants and instruments. In 1985 the first CT / MRT contrast medium injector was sold. In 2000, the medical supply store, rehabilitation technology, and doctor and consultation hour needs were closed and the company is concentrating on the sale of self-produced medical technology.

In January 2006, the subsidiary ulrich medical USA Inc. was founded in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Heinrich Ulrich is a member of the board of trustees of the Institute for Laser Technologies in Medicine and Measurement Technology at Ulm University.
