Ulrich Brocker

Ulrich Brocker (born February 17, 1943 in Hamm , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German administrative lawyer and association functionary. From 2008 to 2010 he was general manager of the employers' association Gesamtmetall .

Life

Ulrich Brocker attended the Hammonense grammar school in Hamm / Westf. and passed his Abitur there in 1962. He then studied law at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster . There he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD. Title of the thesis: "The constitutionality of the law for the adjustment and recovery of the German coal industry as a means of state economic control."

From August 1, 1969 to December 31, 1970 Brocker worked as an assistant to the Bundestag member Günter Rinsche . Brocker began his professional career in 1974 as a scientific consultant at the General Association of Metal Industry Employers' Associations ( Gesamtmetall ) in Cologne . In 1984 he moved to become general manager of the Association of the Ceramic Industry (VKI) in Selb in Upper Franconia , which he led until the end of 1995. In 1996 Brocker became General Manager of the Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry Baden-Württemberg ( Südwestmetall ) and the State Association of Baden-Württemberg Employers' Associations in Stuttgart . After leaving Südwestmetall for reasons of age, Brocker returned to Gesamtmetall in 2008 as Managing Director and managed its business in Berlin until the end of October 2010.

Brocker was one of the initiators of the New Social Market Economy initiative, supported by the employers' associations of the German metal and electrical industry , which, after it was founded in 2000, was intended to awaken German awareness of the need for reforms in social, financial and educational policy. The initiative, based in Berlin, is a non-partisan movement that sees itself as the guardian of the social market economy as the basis for competitiveness and prosperity.

Brocker is a member of the Catholic student association AV Guestfalia Tübingen in the CV and is a member of the Bund Katholischer Unternehmer (BKU) . In 2004 Brocker was a member of the 12th Federal Assembly .
