Ulrich Falk

Ulrich Falk (born September 25, 1957 in Darmstadt ) is a German law scholar and professor at the University of Mannheim .

Life

After graduating from the Justus-Liebig-Gymnasium in Darmstadt in 1976 , Falk studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main from 1977 . In 1984 he passed his first state examination in law in Frankfurt am Main and then worked as an assistant at the chair for civil law and Roman legal history there . In 1988, under the supervision of Dieter Simon , Falk received his doctorate with a thesis on conceptual jurisprudence. iur. In 1992, after completing his legal clerkship , Falk passed the second state examination. He then worked as a speaker at the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History in Frankfurt until 2000 .

After a substitute professor at the University of Tübingen in 1999, Falk completed his habilitation in Frankfurt in 2000 under the supervision of Regina Ogorek and received the Venia legendi for the subjects of civil law, Roman law, the history of private law in the modern era and contemporary legal history. In 2001 he accepted an offer from the University of Mannheim to succeed Christoph Krampe at the chair for civil law and European legal history, which he has held since 2002. From 2005 to 2007, Falk was dean of the Mannheim Faculty for Law and Economics . Since 2005 he has also been director of the local institute for corporate law.

Falk is married and has one son (* 2005). He also plays chess in the league and at international tournaments ; He was among other things in 1976 with the Hessian team German youth champion and in 1977 Hessian youth individual champion.
