Ulrich Fellmeth

Ulrich Fellmeth (born December 10, 1954 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German ancient historian , archivist and museum director at Hohenheim Palace .

Ulrich Fellmeth studied history and German at the University of Tübingen and the University of Stuttgart from 1975 to 1981 . In November 1981 he passed the scientific state examination in Stuttgart. 1982/83 he was a doctoral student in Stuttgart, 1983 to 1985 trainee teacher for the teaching post at grammar schools at the study seminar II. Fellmeth passed the state examination as assessor for the higher teaching post in January 1985, the doctorate with a thesis on the topic The Roman associations and politics. Investigations into social stratification and political awareness in the associations of the urban masses in Rome and Italy followed in 1986. Since 1985 he has been a lecturer at the Historical Institute of the University of Stuttgart, since 2004 as an honorary professor . In 1985 and 1986 Fellmeth held temporary teaching positions at various grammar schools and commercial vocational schools. From October 1986 to February 1989 he was managing director of the company "ARGO - Humanistische Reisen GmbH". Since February 1989 he has headed the archive and the university history museum of the University of Hohenheim .

Fellmeth's research focuses on the agricultural , economic and trade history of antiquity , in particular economic thinking in antiquity, the historical-geographical aspects of ancient trade and economic history, and the food economy of antiquity.
