Ulrich Hennes (* 1962 in Siegen ) is a German Roman Catholic priest .

Life

Hennes studied Roman Catholic theology and philosophy . From 1996 to 2006 he was a diocesan youth pastor in the Archdiocese of Cologne . In this capacity he was involved in the organization of World Youth Day 2005 . From 2006 he was pastor of the parish St. Jacobus in Hilden and from 2012 at the same time district dean of the district dean's office in Mettmann . In 2015, as the successor to Rolf Steinhäuser, he became pastor of the Lambertus community in downtown Düsseldorf and at the same time city dean in the city dean's office in Düsseldorf. After investigations into an allegation of sexual harassment had started, the Archbishop of Cologne Rainer Maria Woelki relieved him of his offices in March 2019, whereas Hennes appealed after the investigation had been reopened. In September 2019, Hennes voluntarily resigned from his offices; in return, the archbishop lifted the ban on public priestly work.

From September 2020 Ulrich Hennes will be the senior pastor in pastoral care at four Cologne hospitals under the auspices of the Cellitinnen-Order .
