Ulrich Kuder

Ulrich Kuder (born April 5, 1943 in Tuttlingen ) is a German art historian .

Life

After graduating from high school in the Evangelical Theological Seminars Schöntal / Jagst and Urach, Ulrich Kuder studied Protestant theology in Tübingen, Vienna, Mainz and Edinburgh from 1962 to 1968. After the 1st Evangelical Theological Service Examination in Tübingen, he worked as a research assistant at the Ecumenical Institute of the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University and as a religion teacher in Munich. After a year of study at the Catholic University in Leuven / Belgium made possible by a DAAD scholarship , he began studying art history , philosophy and Old Testament science in Munich in 1972 and was awarded a doctorate there in 1977 with a thesis on a Carolingian psaltery. phil. doctorate: The initials of the Amienspsalter (Amiens, Bibliothèque municipale, ms. 18) .

From 1977 to 1984 assistant at the Institute for Art History at the University of Munich , he then worked at various universities, including Eichstätt , Braunschweig , Osnabrück and Greifswald , as a research assistant, lecturer and university lecturer and cataloged from 1988 to 1990 as part of a DFG Project illuminated manuscripts of the 13th century in the Württemberg State Library in Stuttgart . He completed his habilitation at the University of Munich in 1989 with studies in Ottonian book illumination .

From 1994 to 1996 he held the professorship for art history at the Brandenburg Technical University in Cottbus and was director of the Center for Technology and Society there. Appointed as successor to Frank Büttner to the chair for Middle and Modern Art History at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in 1996 , he was one of the directors of the Art History Institute until his retirement in 2008.

Since 2016 he has been chairman of the Arthur-Haseloff- Gesellschaft eV, society for the promotion of research and studies at the Art History Institute of the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel.
