Ulrich Kumme (born January 26, 1951 in Verden ) is a German politician and presiding judge at the Hildesheim Regional Court . From the end of 2002 to the beginning of 2006 he was honorary mayor of the city of Hildesheim .

The doctor of law is married and has two children.

Political career

Ulrich Kumme has been a member of the Hildesheim City Council since 2001 .

This elected him honorary mayor in 2002. Kumme thus became the successor of Kurt Machens , who had recently been dismissed by the council due to allegations of corruption in the so-called “ Pecunia non olet ” affair. On February 1, 2006, Machens was again his successor: Kumme was defeated in a runoff election in autumn 2005 in the first direct elections for the full-time mayor of Hildesheim (cf. single track ) .

On February 6, 2006, Kumme was unanimously elected chairman of the Hildesheim council. He is also the local mayor of the Hildesheim district of Ochtersum . After the local elections in 2006, in which he achieved the best individual result of all candidates in Lower Saxony, he was elected parliamentary group leader of the CDU in the newly formed council.
