Ulrich Mayer

Ulrich Mayer (born February 25, 1941 in Wetzlar ) is a German history teacher and professor emeritus at the University of Kassel .

Mayer was for many years co-editor of the magazine Geschichteearning (1987-2010). After gaining extensive practical experience as a high school teacher and head of department at the school, he held a chair for history didactics at the University of Kassel from 1995 to 2006 . He did his doctorate with Klaus Bergmann at the University of Gießen with studies on the development of history didactics and history teaching in the western occupation zones and in the Federal Republic of Germany 1945-1953 . One of his students is the history didactician Michael Sauer , whose habilitation he supervised. He is also Peter Gautschi's doctoral supervisor . A long-standing friendship connects him with Hans-Jürgen Pandel .

Mayer is co-editor of numerous representative historical didactic collections, historical source editions, initiator of important educational policy and curricular impulses and author and co-editor of recognized textbook series.
