Ulrich Pietsch

Ulrich Pietsch (born May 11, 1950 in Plön ) is a German art historian and former director of the porcelain collection in Dresden .

Life

From 1971 to 1977 Pietsch studied art history , classical archeology , folklore and Romance studies / Italian at the University of Kiel . Two scholarships took him to Rome in 1975 and 1977 . In 1977 he was in Kiel with one of Alfred Kamphausen supervised dissertation on the Eutin Baroque -Baumeister Georg Hofer Gregg Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1977 to 1979 he was a volunteer at the Museum for Art and Cultural History of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck ( St. Annen Museum , Behnhaus ). In 1979 he became a curator and deputy director here.

From 1994 until his retirement in 2015 he was director of the porcelain collection of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden .

Since 2011 he has been teaching art history as an honorary professor at the TU Dresden .
