The Krumbachsattel is 951  m above sea level. A. high pass in the southern Mostviertel in Lower Austria, near the Styrian Mariazell .

The pass lies between the St. Aegyde location of Unterknollenhals on the uppermost Salza and the village of Walstern on Hubertussee in the Halltal , municipality of Mariazell . The state border is only at the end of the Krumbach Valley, the pass is entirely in Lower Austria.

A channel goes east to the uppermost Salza near Knollenhals, locality Krumbach, to the west the Krumbach over the Walster to Salza.

The Krumbachsattel connects the Ulreichsberg of the Traisenberg – Sulzberg group with the Schwarzkogelstock  ( 1365  m above sea level ), two pre-alpine mountain areas of the Türnitz Alps . The summit directly to the north is the Hohe Ulreichsberg ( 1276  m above sea level ), the south the Pitztonihöhe ( 1208  m above sea level ).

A forest path leads over the saddle. As a hiking trail, it is a section of the Knollenhals - Walstern Trail of the Mariazellerweg  (WW06, Gscheid - Ulreichsberg ), the Lower Austrian circular hiking trail  (  NLW, Gscheid - Fadental ), the Traisental circular hiking trail (655, Göller via Gsenger - Ulreichsberg) and the Waldmarkweg  (622, Göller via Gsenger - Hubertussee ).

Individual evidence

  1. a b The name of the St. Aegyder location suggests that this brook was also called Krumbach. It is common here that the streams have the same name on both sides of the pass. The channel is not listed in the Austrian map, in NÖGIS or in the area directory.
