Ulrich Schacht (politician)

Ulrich Schacht (born May 19, 1956 in Bottrop ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Schacht completed an apprenticeship as a high- voltage electrician at Saarbergwerke AG and was then a company electrician. In 1981 he acquired the technical college entrance qualification in a commercial technical field. He attended the Academy of Labor at the University of Frankfurt and was then union secretary at IG Bergbau und Energie in the Rhineland district. This was followed by a DGB legal seminar at the University of Frankfurt, whereupon Schacht became the legal protection secretary of the IG Bergbau, Chemie, Energie in the Saarbrücken district.

In 1972 Schacht became a member of the Junge Union and the CDA, and two years later the CDU. He is deputy chairman of the Malstatt local association and deputy state chairman. He sits in the Saarbrücken Regional Association and on the federal board of the CDA. He is also deputy district chairman of the CDU Saarbrücken City. From 1999 to 2004 Schacht sat in the Saarland state parliament .

Schacht is the son of Günther Schacht, a former member of the state parliament .
