Ulrik Olsen

Ulrik Olsen (born August 2, 1885 in Hitteren ; † October 4, 1963 ) was a Norwegian politician of the social democratic Arbeiderpartiet (Ap).

Life

Ulrik Olsen, son of farmer Peder Olsen and Dorothea Hesnes, completed his apprenticeship as a carpenter in 1899 . He then worked in this profession until 1914 before setting up his own business in the fishing industry. From 1913 to 1951, Olsen was a member of Kristiansund City Council . He was the mayor of the municipality between 1934 and 1940 and again from 1945 to 1947.

In the period from 1934 to 1961 he represented the constituency of Møre og Romsdal in the Norwegian national parliament in Storting . From December 1945 to December 1948 he was in front of the local parliamentary committee. On December 20, 1948, Olsen was appointed local minister and labor minister in the Gerhardsen II government. He held this office for about ten years until September 1, 1958 in the Torp government and the Gerhardsen III government .
