Ulrike Denk

Ulrike Denk (born May 10, 1964 in Cologne ) is a former German hurdler who specialized in the 100 meter distance .

Career

On September 19, 1983, Ulrike Denk set a new U20 world record in Dortmund with a time of 8.06 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles in the hall. The record was only beaten on February 18, 2017 in Toruń by the Polish Klaudia Siciarz with 8.00 s. With this record she qualified for the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1983 in Budapest . Over the 60 meter hurdles she was fifth and reached the semi-finals at the World Championships in Helsinki . In the following year, a further fifth place over 60 meter hurdles at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg was followed by a seventh place at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . At the European Indoor Championships in 1985 in Piraeus she was fifth again, and fourth at the 1986 European Indoor Championships in Madrid.

She was German champion three times (1983–1985) and twice runner-up (1987, 1988). In the hall she won the title over 60 meter hurdles four times (1983, 1985, 1986, 1988) and was runner-up once (1984).

Ulrike Denk started for ASV Köln until 1984 , then for SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen .
