Ultimo ( Japanese 機巧 童子 ULTIMO , Karakuri Dōji Ultimo ) is a manga series by Stan Lee and Hiroyuki Takei . The concept comes from Stan Lee, the further development of the story and the drawings were carried out by Hiroyuki Takei. The manga was published from 2008 to 2015 in Japan and is in the genres of Action , Science Fiction and Shonen classify.

In 12th century Japan, Dr. Dunstan two " Karakuri Dōji", mechanical dolls or robots that embody the absolute good and the absolute bad. The good, Ultimo, and the bad, Vice, should wake up again after 1000 years and in the fight against each other show which power is stronger.

When Ultimo and Vice wake up again, they immediately fight their fight in Tokyo, but then both remain badly battered. The young Agari Yamato ( 東 大 和 ), reincarnation of a bandit from Dunstan's time, meets Ultimo after his first fight and is drawn into the conflict between the robots. Soon other Karakuri Dōji appear, who are also fighting for the fate of the world and all their activity threatens great danger. To counter this, Yamato wants to get to know the good and the bad with Ultimo's help by meeting each of the Karakuri Dōji one after the other.

In the magazine Jump Square Second (Jump SQ.II) the publishing house Shueisha published a pilot chapter of the story on April 18, 2008. The series started in the 3/2009 issue of Jump Square magazine on February 4, 2009, but then switched to the sister magazine Jump SQ.19 starting with the 3/2012 issue of February 19, 2012 . The publication ended in October 2015. Twelve edited volumes were published.

A German publication was published in full by Egmont Manga from October 2012 to October 2016 . In North America, the manga was published by Viz Media in the local Shonen Jump .
