Ultra Violent PØP , often abbreviated as UV PØP , is a British band from Sheffield .
The only permanent member is John Kevin White, who formed the band in 1981 as a one-man project after briefly doing vocals, lyrics and guitar for I Scream Brothers in Doncaster . He recorded his first tapes and went on tour with In the Nursery , Danse Society , Pulp and Culture Club , among others . In 1982 the first single Just A Game / No Songs Tomorrow was released , which was produced by Cabaret Voltaire . The following year the debut album No Songs Tomorrow was released. This was mainly known in Great Britain , but also had some recipients in Germany .
In 1986 UV PØP recorded the single Serious and the album Bendy Baby Man . The song Serious developed into a popular new wave anthem of the 80s and was later covered by the German band Escape With Romeo on their third album Next Stop Eternally . The band remained active until 1997, but then withdrew from the public.
In 2010 White reformed the band, which is now playing concerts again. Since then, new recordings of old songs, previously unreleased demos, compilations and re-releases of their albums and singles have appeared.
The song Psalm from the LP No Songs Tomorrow was 2008 Anne Clark on the album The Smallest Acts of Kindness gecovert .
