Ultramarine, the Meichle + Mohr Marina ( proper spelling ULTRAMARIN ) is a marina in Kressbronn - Gohren on Lake Constance . It has a port area of 200,000 m² and 1,400 berths. With a hotel, a sailing school, yacht charter and several shipyards, it is the largest water sports center on Lake Constance.

history

In the transition from the 19th to the 20th century, the family businesses Meichle and Mohr began to mine gravel on an area surrounded by meadows, riverside and alluvial forest near the Kressbronn district of Gohren on Lake Constance. This is how a quarry pond was created . In 1908 the two companies merged the excavator business, sales remained separate. The gravel mining company Meichle + Mohr GmbH was founded on March 1, 1924.

Up until 1973/74, the gravel was dug up to 200 meters from the shore of Lake Constance from a depth of 90 meters. Eleven gravel ships brought the majority of the raw material to Konstanz , Friedrichshafen , Immenstaad and Switzerland .

In the mid-1950s, water sports enthusiasts began to build their first moorings in the Meichle + Mohr company's excavator hole , mostly for sports boats. In 1962/63, the Kressbronn sailors built and privately organized their own jetties on the east bank of the Baggersee for the first time. Gravel was dredged on the remaining water surface and on the shores of Lake Constance until 1978, and transshipment was carried out on the west bank in the quarry pond.

From 1982 the company began to gradually expand the water sports business. A large marina with 1500 berths was created. A functional building was built for a sailing school , the sailmaker's shop and the administration of the water sports center. The groundbreaking ceremony for the 80 meter long and 20 meter wide building took place on October 8, 2002 in order to take advantage of the usually low water level in winter. However, the water level did not meet expectations, so that a deep-sea diving team from Berlin had to concretize the floor slab underwater. The building was inaugurated on July 25, 2003.

On this occasion, Meichle + Mohr Marina has been operating under the name Ultramarin since mid-2003 . The port also has a specialist market and shipyard, 22 apartments, a warehouse for the specialist market and a sailmaker's shop. The sailing school and charter company Schattmaier is also affiliated.

At the end of 2003 the “small specialist market” and the “Schiffle” were demolished and a restaurant was built by May 2004, shaped like the bow of a ship. In October 2007 the ground-breaking ceremony took place for the Ultramarine Hotel, which was built in a semicircle adjacent to the existing building and opened in July 2008.

The marina on the Argen tributary to Lake Constance received the Blue Anchor environmental certificate from the International Lake Constance Water Sports Association at the beginning of the 2007 season . The port also has a sea gas station and a crane system for ships weighing up to 25 tons. A number of berths are available to the skippers in patented boat docks, which, thanks to their lift system, no longer require wintering in dry berths.
