Ultravox / discography

This discography is an overview of the musical works of the British band Ultravox . It contains the published albums and singles as well as their chart positions and additional comments. According to sources and record awards, it has sold more than 2.8 million records to date. Ultravox's most successful release is the album The Collection with over 900,000 units sold.

The albums Quartet and Lament were digitally mastered in 1982 and 1984 .

In addition to the publications mentioned, there were other greatest hits editions that are not listed individually.

In 2006 Island Records released the first three albums in a digitally remastered version with additional bonus tracks and liner notes by Steve Malins . In addition to the original tracks, the debut album contains live recordings by Slip Away , Modern Love , The Wild, the Beautiful and the Damned , and My Sex . The sequel also contains the single Young Savage , which was released between the first and second albums but was not included on either album, Quirks , a remixed version of The Man Who Dies Every Day , the alternative version of Hiroshima Mon Amour , which was known as B-side of the single ROckWrok was released, as well as two live recordings. The last Iceland album contains the title Cross Fade and the full version of Quiet Men as bonus tracks .

In 2008/2009 EMI re-released all studio and live albums from 1980 to 1986 as Remastered Definitive Editions . In addition to the completely re-digitized recordings from the original tapes, these two discs also contain previously unpublished pieces. It all started on September 22nd, 2008 with the first two albums Vienna and Rage in Eden , the latter again in a CD edition with the original cover and the graphics Cinémonde by Hervé Morvan, which were used both on vinyl in 1981 and on CD in the USA was limited in its edition for copyright reasons. Quartet and Monument followed on February 16, 2009 . At Monument , another title was added compared to the earlier re-release with The Song (We Go) . The live album now contains eight instead of the originally five recorded tracks. The second disc in this set is the concert video on DVD that was produced in VHS format at the time. On September 4, 2009, Lament and U-Vox, the last two albums of the Chrysalis era, were released as double CDs. In Lament there are four titles that are only available in digital download form to because they could not find their place on the second CD. These are the titles Love's Great Adventure , which can be positioned between the two albums , their B-sides and the maxi version of Heart of the Country, which is only published in Germany . On the Lament booklet is the largely unknown cover version of the British first vinyl edition without the image of the Callanish Stones . The cover of the vinyl edition was made of rough cardboard printed with gloss varnish. The design of the CD is also reminiscent of this original edition.

In order to achieve the best sound quality, some singles were released as clear vinyl , which today are coveted collector's items due to the small number of copies. Clear or virgin vinyl ("virgin vinyl") is fresh vinyl that is not contaminated with the remnants of the label paper when it is melted.
