Umberto Zamboni di Salerano

Umberto Zamboni di Salerano (* July 1935 in Turin ;) is a retired Italian diplomat .

Education

He graduated in law and joined the foreign service in 1967.

Life

In May 1965 he was assigned to the Italian Embassy in Tokyo . In February 1968 Zamboni di Salerano became consul in Marseille . From February 1970 to September 1973 he received further training at the diplomatic institute. In September 1973 he was assigned to the Italian Embassy in Vienna . In January 1978 he became counselor. From July 1978 to November 1981 Zamboni di Salerano was counselor in Caracas and from November 1981 to November 1986 he was employed in the protocol department. In November 1986 he was appointed Envoy Plenipotentiary, Second Class.

From August 18, 1988 to March 31, 1992 he was ambassador to San Marino . From March 14, 1992 to June 28, 1997 he was Ambassador to Guatemala City .

From 1999 he was Deputy Head of the Italian Mission at the United Nations Office in Geneva . He was retired on August 1, 2002 .
